Liturgical Ministries
Lectors: Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass by reading the Scriptures and, when assigned, the Prayers of the Faithful. Through clear and prayerful proclamation, they help the faithful hear and reflect on God’s Word.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass when needed. They may also bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, extending the Church’s care and presence to those unable to attend Mass.
Altar Servers (Adult Servers): Adult Altar Servers assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of the liturgy. Their responsibilities may include carrying the processional cross and candles, assisting at the altar, and helping ensure the smooth and reverent flow of the Mass.
Sacristans: Sacristans prepare the sacred vessels, linens, books, and other items needed for the celebration of the liturgy. They help ensure that everything is properly arranged before and after Mass, supporting the dignity and reverence of the liturgical celebration.

Choir: St. John Church Choir, directed by Music Director Joanne Swift, is a traditional SATB ensemble that rehearses Monday evenings at Benchmark at South Farms from Labor Day through Memorial Day. The choir sings regularly at Sunday Mass, the Saturday Vigil, and special liturgical celebrations as scheduled by the Pastor and Music Director. We welcome anyone who is willing to join, regardless of prior singing experience or ability to read music—enthusiasm and a willing voice are the real qualifications. Parish Leadership & Advisory
Pastoral Council: The Pastoral Council is a group of elected parishioners who serve in an advisory capacity to the Pastor of St. John Parish. The Council assists the Pastor in providing guidance on parish life, including faith formation initiatives, pastoral planning, and other areas that support the mission of the parish.
Note: This position is a 3 year non-renewable term.
Knights of Columbus: Forest City Council #3 of the Knights of Columbus serves the parishes of St. John and St. Sebastian. While the Council currently operates out of St. Sebastian Parish, it was founded on October 1, 1883 by men of St. John Parish. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization for men and their families, dedicated to charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism, and it supports a wide range of parish and community activities.

Service & Outreach
Social Outreach Committee: The Social Outreach Committee at St. John Parish coordinates a variety of parish and community service activities throughout the year. These include hosting receptions, breakfasts, and other gatherings within the parish, as well as preparing sandwiches and supporting outreach efforts for St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown.
